Dog-Games

Dog-Games is an activity that is great fun for dogs and their owners. There are eight games in all and they can be played by individuals or they can be played at dog clubs or events. Dogs and their handlers can progress in their own time according to their ability. There's no competition pressure but there are various achievement levels if you want to work towards an award.

The games include such things as a very simple recall with no stays or waits or little jumping games over a series of jumps. The awards go from Starters level through to bronze, silver and gold. You don't have to have a special judge to win the awards, you just need to get your dog up to the required standard and get a friend or family member to act as a witness.

You can then send your entry form with your fee to Dog-Games to be put onto the roll of honour. There are separate awards for each of the eight games and they all go through the four different levels. If you don't want to do this formally at a dog club you could get together with friends and have a bit of fun training your dogs for all the games and awards. I think this is a brilliant idea for people who can't get to shows or training clubs very easily but who want to do a bit of something with their dogs.
